Destinations in Europe
Arnhem
The Netherland, Holland is a country in Europe known for it’s flat landscape, canals, tulip fields, windmills, clogs, Art, cheese and bicycles. The capital, Amsterdam, is home of the Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum as well as the house where Anne Frank hid during WWII. Rotterdam is Europe’s largest and most important harbour and port and The Hague is where the seat of government is located. Holland is a great destination to combine History, WWII, Art, Science and Maths tours.
Destinations in Netherlands we recommend visiting include Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague, Hook of Holland and Arnhem. However, we can create a tour to any destination in The Netherlands to fulfil your requirements.
The Dutch have reclaimed over 30% of their land from below sea level. The Netherlands have suffered from flood disasters from sea and river water which has caused many victims, particularly during the 1953 floods when 1850 people were drowned.
The ongoing struggle against the water is evident in it’s many dikes, dams and walls. Land has been reclaimed from as early as the 14th century.

There was great rivalry between the British and American Generals to be the first across the German border after the D Day landings of 6th June 1944. Montgomery proposed Operation Market Garden to win the race and end the war by Christmas.
Firstly an airborne carpet of British and American paratroopers were deployed to seize and hold the bridges over the rivers. Then Horrocks XXX Corps, supported by tanks and aircraft were sent across those bridges and along ‘Hells Highway’ for a 60 mile dash to the town of Arnhem on the river Rhine. It almost worked but the ground troops could not reach Arnhem in time. The British forces there were gradually pushed back over the Rhine, captured or killed.
The tour follows ‘Hells Highway’ to Arnhem.
